A night at the Park

It is hard to imagine but about a week ago, the kids and I packed up all the bikes, brought our dinner to the park and had an incredible night. We had our pic nick, then we went off on our bikes. We first went to the skate park and the boys rode there bikes on all the cool hills. It was so great to see. My boys are surprisingly cautious when it comes to these things. (So fortunate that they got that from me, and didn't follow in there Fathers no fear footsteps!) But also on the other hand I want them to get out there and try things I would have been afraid to try. Anyway, Rodee especially stayed there forever. He tried one hill at a time. He slowly built up to more and more! It was so cool. I could see the confidence growing in his face. It was amazing. I loved it. It did make me nervous when I saw a kid who told me all about how he broke his arm, learning how, and his mom just now let him come back!! But I shook it off! They are kids. I need to let them have fun. In our world I think this is as safe as it gets! Speaking of that though, I feel a rant coming on... hee hee.. bear with me... but this poor kid had just turned 10 himself. No parent in site. In fact in the whole skate park, there were probly 30 kids and I was the only adult, besides I guess the few maybe 18 year old kids skating around. I really felt sad for most of these kids. On one had I was amazed, I loved the true talent I was witnessing in some of these kids. It was amazing, but I also just couldn't help but worry about the danger of them being there. Not the skating. Broken bones heal. But the danger of just so much time alone. So much time without guidance and love. Many of them seemed really attached to older skaters. I can only pray that they are adopted big brothers that will help them, but something tells me that probly isn't the case. Anyway, just sad. I love boys. I know that is why I have three. I just feel so passionate about all these lost young men in our world. If someone doesn't help them, guide them, direct them in a good path. Help them see how talented and wonderful they could be then we just have a bunch more loser sperm donors that neglect there girlfriends and could be families. We so need good, righteous men in our world, and I believe there are so many out there that could be with the right guidance.
Ok, I digress. We left the skate park eventually and then rode the trail for almost a mile!! Poor Lighting was on his big wheel the whole time! The little trooper never complained! (We have since gotten him his own bike that he is so excited about!)
After we rode the bikes the mile back, we parked them and played at the park for a while. Then we played soccer until it got dark. We didn't leave the park until 10:30!! It was such a fun night. The only thing missing was daddy!

Weddings

Congratulations to a sweet girl who was one of our Young Women. It was strange seeing one of our young girls get married. I mean I was only in YW's for 2 and half years, I think, but just thinking about any of them being old enough to get married really makes me feel older. We had such wonderful girls. This one in particular. (Just not nameing names in case she doesn't want me to!) She impressed me so much with her kindness and wonderful example she was to all of our younger girls. We wish the two of you so much happiness!

Happy Birthday Rodee!!

These are a little late, but I wanted to let Rodee know how much we love him and how happy we are that he is in our family! He is truly an amazing kid. He teaches me things everyday. I hope that is 10th birthday was all he wished for. We had a great time with water balloons and other games that really didn't compare to attacking each other with water balloon. It was a new day for me, when I planned all these fun party games, and guess what 10 year olds, only wanted to run around and get each other with the balloons. They had a great time.
Happy Birthday Rodee!!!

Visit from Friends

Our long time friends came to visit up a few weeks ago, they have three boys and a girl just like us. We met them back with our oldest boys were just a few months old. Sophie loved playing with their sweet little girl. She is such a little mommy already. It was so fun to have them over. The boys had such a great reunion and we had fun staying up late and playing card games all night. I tell you, we really are fun to come visit! SO COME!!! Hee hee!

Snow in June!!!!!

Ok, now I know for that being here for 3 years should mean that I am use to this crazy unpredictable weather, but lets get real!!! Snow in June!!! It is June 11th for pete's sake!!
I just couldn't believe we were setting the pool up last week, and we wake up to this! Snow, and not just a little snow!
I have pictures but I don't want to make that the theme of my blog! Though I think that is what it has become!
Daddy comes home this Saturday!!!! Yeah, two weeks a head of schedule!! We are going to be home for the following two weeks. Vance is attending a Science camp the first week, and then the boys have scout camp the next and then we will be off. He is going to be working in San Francisco for the month of July. We are so excited. We spent almost 8 weeks last summer in hotels traveling all over with him, and if I remember right when I came home I was so done with Hotel rooms, but now we are all soooooo looking forward to it! We miss daddy so much that is part of it. The Hotel we will be staying at has an outdoor pool too, so in this cold that sounds so nice. I plan on hanging out in the hot sun all day with the kids at the pool! The tan will help get ready for the wedding I am in, in Idaho the first week in August. That week is going to be crazy. I am in desperate need for babysitters for 3 nights in a row because of wedding things. So anyone in Idaho that can recomend anyone......:)
Anyway, I am going on major diet mode, to lose as much as I can before the wedding too! Its hard with kids, but I am pretty determined!
Anyway, better run!

School is almost out!

Takeing the boys to school this morning for some reason it hit me that the year is almost over. I know we have been talking about it already, but it really hit me. Summer. I love summer. I just remember all those summer days, playing out side, setting up the pools, you know the little plastic ones, that when you got in the sides would bend, or you could purposely bend them and watch the water fall! Anyway, our neighborhood growing up was so fun. There were really only 4 or 5 families with kids, but it always seemed like more. We would have so much fun, builing forts in the allies, playing on Heather's "dirt mountain". We would spend hours on end, on that dirt mountain. One day it was an actual mountain, that we were hiking and got lost in the "wilderness'. The next day we would trace lines in the lose dirt that would outline our homes. Complete with bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, etc... I can picture what our houses looked like in out minds. Our bedrooms would be exactly what we wanted, gigantic, and finger drawn big luxurious beds. I can see it. I can see it as a child, and the size and colors in my mind. I can also picture it as it must have really looked. Small ligns in the dirt, traced by small fingers. That was it. So simple and so amazing.
I am actually looking forward to this summer. We are busy with activities, but I hope that the kids can have some of those days, just out playing in the yard.

Stollen post from Jo!!

Michael: I told Dwight that there is honor in losing. Which, as we all know, is completely ridiculous. But there is however honor in making a loser feel better, which is what I just did for Dwight. Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.”
- Michael Scott
Is this how we parent?

Thoughts from me!

I haven't posted for a while, thought I would just puts some random thoughts down. Most the times that is what my thoughts are. :)
Joe is off to Germany now. He will be there until late June. We miss him when he is gone.
This weekend, we didn't do much for Memorial day. We cleaned mostly. Fun huh. We have had crazy rain, like so much the kids couldn't even play outside when it wasn't raining because it was so muddy. We did have an indoor BBQ at our friends house on Monday night, that was the highlight of the weekend. It was fun. Oh, Friday night we had a good time. Joe was leaving on Saturday morning so we just had a family fun night. We played some classic games we hadn't played with the kids before. We played the M&M game, where you sit in a circle and pass the bowl of M&M's around. Remember that one? We played it when I was young, but then you had those Tan M&M's so each person closes there eyes and picks two M&M's if neither is tan, then you have to store them in one cheek. Then you pass it on. The game keeps going, and your cheek keeps getting fuller, if you happen to draw a tan on, you get to eat all of them! It is just a silly, fun game, it gets silly, because usually there is at least a few, that never seem to get one, daddy, was the one this time, the entire game!! Poor guy. There really is no point, other then eating chocolate, which has its own value I suppose, but it gets alot of giggles and it was really fun. Since there are no more Tan ones anymore and you don't want to just use a regular color, because it needs to be alot less of the magic one then the others. So I bought a regular big bag, then bought two little ones of that were out for some new movie right now that had cream colored ones in it.
We also played the one where you wrap a candy bar up a few times in newspaper or whatever, and you have a set of gloves and a knife and fork, and dice. Everyone rolls and passes the dice, if you roll a one or six, then you get to go, you have to put the gloves on, and then try to open and eat the candy bar, but you can only use the knife and fork. Also, when someone else gets a one or six, they shout out and you have to put the knife and fork down and take the gloves off and pass them to them . It was hillarious. It took a long time too. Just as one person would get the gloves on and get a start on opening it someone would shout out. Even Sophi played, I helped her and she would just giggle and giggle. It was so fun! We then had pizza and watched a movie. It was a great send off party for daddy! Really we seem to find any reason to have a party though!! I love it!

Sophi is standing with her chapstick in one hand and bouncing to the beat of the music that Lightning just put on! (these names!!! I wonder what I was thinking, in letting them pick out there blog names!) Anyway, she is adorible!!

I have a ton of pictures I need to post, but I can't now, so more to come later!

Spring in Montana!

We are definatly in Montana! Just last night we were out in the yard cleaning up, raking. Everything shows signs that spring is here. We have some beautiful blossoms coming up, and some of the branches are turning green. The weather was perfect, the kids were all helping. We even had neighbor kids running over to see if they could be apart of the festivities. It was great!! The yard looks great! It just felt great to work out in the warm air as a family. This morning we wake up in a different world. Dark grey skies. The air is so cold you can see yourself breath. We won't be finishing the back yard today as planned, because it has started snowing!! I am not sure even 3 years has gotten me use to that! Oh, well the I guess the fun part is we may be swimming next week!

Easter Sunday

Being a mom is hard. It is wonderful and fun, and fulfilling but it is hard. When I look at the four of them I sometimes wonder where the time went. That makes me feel old even saying that and I don't usually feel old. But really where did they come from and how did they get so big so fast! I mean I know where they came from but how on earth did I get here, here where I am a mom with four kids. I could not be more grateful for the kids I have. They are so wonderful. I just want to do everything right. I want to be the right mom for them.

Easter Egg Hunt!

We invited our neighbor to come join us in our hunt. It didn't last long, but they had fun of course! I loved the hunts we would have in our front yard every year. Something special about that was so much better than the city hunt. I can imagine, the four of us running out and finding the eggs, some in plain site, some in the bushes, some on tires of vehicles near by. The excitement of just finding one. I honestly don't remember what my parents put in the, some years it was candy, sometimes coins, sometimes we just hid our hard boiled ones. The coolest feeling ever was when it was weeks later and we would be playing outside and someone would come across a long forgotten plastic egg full of treasure. Oh to be a kid again! I know that is why our loving Heavenly Father gives us these opportunities. To re live them, maybe create new memories, replace old. Live is good.

Easter Eggs!

Dying Easter eggs is also one of those favorite memories. This year I boiled them the day before and I just put them out with old fashion food coloring, vinigar and crayons and let them lose, I think it took them all of about 10 minutes to get them done. Daddy talked to us on the phone while we did it. We were all sad he wasn't there, but it was nice for him to hear all the crazy happiness!

Easter Baskets

I love Easter. I think I just love holidays in general, especially the ones that we have such great childhood memories. My mom always had Easter baskets for us, every year. She was so good as to actually keep the same ones around, and we would turn them in and store them and use them again the next year. Since I am not so good, this year I had planned on doing our Easter baskets on Saturday morning, of course, but actually got all the stuff and forgot baskets. So Saturday came and I never decided what to do, so Sunday morning it was! I gathered these baskets from places around the house and emptied there contents only to be borrowed for the day and here they are! The kids loved them of course!

Passover Like Dinner

This year, even though daddy was gone, we went ahead with our traditional Preparing for Easter, Passover like dinner. This year Aunt B made meat cabobs, and we had grapes, and olives, and saltine crackers (didn't have time to make unleavened bread, they worked :)) and we had asparagus. We drank grape juice too. ( do you think they used the smart balance and paper plates! hee hee) We did have a discussion on if all of that was what they would have eaten, but it didn't seem to matter, we had a great time. The costumes the dinner and everything was great.

SPA DAY!

Wednesday, I experienced my first real spa day! I mean of course I have had pedicures, manies, etc. I get my hair done regulary like most women, and yes I have even had massages, but never the true spa day expereince. OH MY! I am a new woman. In fact when Brita first saw me comeing back, she said my eyes were on fire! Its true! No don't get worried, I will never be one of those women who think it neccesary to spend hundreds of dollars every month to do this, but every few months might be nice! hee hee!

Anyway, I have to write it down so I don't forget any detail!

Brita and Dara, gave me this incredible gift along with some other great girly things, for my birthday. I had no idea how great it would be. It was a package, but we could only scheduled half for the week she would be here to watch the kids, which I am so happy about, since now I know that I have the other half to look forward to. So, I got there and they had me get in the great white comfy robe, in this massive dressing room and put on some flip flops. Now most of you that know me, know that I HATE feet. Not just me own, but especially other peoples! Don't ask me why, some crazy childhood thing I am sure, but somehow, I just simply can't stand it. I love a pedicure, but it is a bit stressful for me at the same time, anyway, back to the story. My sweet friend and hair stylist Mellissa happened to be there getting a massage, so we got to wait together and she told me about the great herbal tea they had so I got some of that. Then they came out with this huge bowl for a foot bath. So I sat there for about 10 minutes in the hot bubbly bath, It was so nice, and then she cam out and massaged and scrubbed them. I got over it really quick and it was so nice. It was an interesting time, since we had just talked about the Savior the night before washing the deciples feet. I am sure it wasn't the same but it was interesting to think about. Anyway, I get off track really easy!

Then they took me on to a beautiful, quiet room, with low lights and soft music and smelled like Heaven! This was going to begin my day with a two hour facial! Crazy me I couldn't figure out what they were going to do to my face for two hours!! OH it was so much better. She did quite a few layers of masks and such, but inbetween each she massaged my feet, my legs my arms my scalp! Oh the scalp was the best! hee hee. It was so relaxing and just simply amazing. When she was done, she had me come out, and get some tea and just wait a bit, and then the next lady came and got me. Her room was just as beautiful and the bed was heated! I love heat! I truly should live in Southern California! I always have, I love, love, love heat! Anyway, so this was my true treat! I got a hot rock massage for an hour! It was amazing! I know I need some new describeing words but I seriously can't come up with anything better. The great thing is I was already so relaxed I was able to just enjoy every bit of the hour. So when it was over, they brought me back to my huge dressing room and said help yourself to anything you might need. So I took a wonderful, quiet, interuption free shower, blew dried my hair of course using there wonderful Aveda products! Then I got to use all this wonderful Aveda make up they had out! It was all so awesome! And now I get to go back next month for a two hour pedicure! I can't wait!

I can't thank you Brita and Dara enough. It was more than a treat!

Lunch ideas!

Aunt B, came this week to help out with Kjell being in London this month. She has been simply awesome! I can't say enough. Because she was here I was able to surprised Vance at school yesterday and brought him chinese for lunch! It was really fun, but I sat at our table with aproximately 35 other kids I would say were on our table, and I was simply shocked. The lunch looked pretty good, our school raised prices this last year so they could provide healthier options. It didn't look that different, but it still looked good. It was a chicken sandwich, and macaroni salad, that looked pretty good. They even had a cookie. Well anyway, when the time came for the kids to go, I would honeslty say only two of the little cups of salad had even been touched at out table and not one single sandwich was finished, most only a couple bites out of them. Even most of the cookies were left. I watched the kids, they picked at most of it, but didn't eat much at all! NO wonder our kids come home rafished! I don't think the schools can do anything different about it really, it looked good, it wasn't that, but I think that is just the way kids are. I think kids in general like thing the way they get them at home, what they are use to. I ask Vance and I said would you have eaten that, and he is a good eater, he said, oh probly not the chicken sandwich! I was shocked. I realized that that money I was sending in every month was just paying the dumpster bill! Anyway, so even thought I think honestly making a great packed lunch can be almost as expensive, would my kids eat it any better!!? So I went on a hunt this morning and found this great site. I think for a lunch box the price is crazy, but I love the idea and I think I could do it in the boxes they have. Just thought I would pass it on!

Answer to my stomach issues!

Ok, wierdest thing ever, but I tested positive for Giardia! Who the heck knows how I came accross it. Usually people get it from drinking infected lake water! I haven't been camping lately, so who knows. But I got on an antibiotic now, that of course the side effects cause cramping in the stomach and nausia! Not much different than the last three weeks, but this morning I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! I just hope that none of the kids or Joe got it in the mean time!

Daddy and his Girl!

Brita just sent me this pic she took this weekend! I LOVE IT!

Happy Monday!

I had a great weekend! My 33rd birthday was last Wednesday, which wasn't the greatest days, I am still going on 3 weeks now of this awful stomach craziness, and that day was one of the worst, I went into the doctor, but who knows. That day when I cam home I found out, Sam had fainted in class that day at school, so I turned around and brought him back to the doctor, and of course we didn't know much, "lets just keep watching him." My stomach hurt enough that night that I didn't eat anything. Joe was planning a good dinner for me, but I told him not to bother. Thursday I was starting to feel a bit better, and good thing, because my sweet sister in Law, surprised me by showing up with Rachel that night! It was so good to see them both! Rachel has grown up so much!! They stayed for the weekend and totally spoiled us all! Kjell and her planned a "surprise" dinner for me on Friday night. Well, I figured it out, that shopping, and such gave that away, but we had a really fun time with lots of good food and friends. Brita, even cooked some Salmon!! Oh, my goodness, even though my stomach was dieing the whole time, I had to eat some of that! It was wonderful! What a great surprise weekend!
Well, I took Joe to the airport yesterday morning early. We all stayed home from church yesterday, Sophie and I both sick. The rest of the day, the two of us slept and the boys did pretty good by themselves. I still haven't heard from Joe, and he should have arrived in Manchester about 8 hours ago! I get nervous until I hear he landed on the ground, preferable on a nice airport runway! I know I am paranoid! I already miss him though!

Laundry and Life

Ok, I am inspired again by a few friends! Laundry! Who hates it even close to as bad as I do! I want to hear as many ideas as you have on how to get over it! I am setting up a system a freind recomended. Obviously having to personalize it, because my Laundry room is the size of a closet, but more cramped!
We had a nice weekend with the kids! We went on a date on Friday night with some friends of ours. I started doing Friday after school cleaning this week, as recomended by this same great friend and it was wonderful! We have always done Saturday morning cleaning, but this was so nice, right when the boys got home from school, I just told them what needed to be done, (lesson one, I am going to make list to hand out next week!) they weren't to happy about it, but got over it quick. We got it done within about 2 hours, and then it was done, we went out and enjoyed our date, when we got up in the morning, Sophi and I layed in bed and I read the last 160 pages of Eclipse, the last book so far, in the best series I have ever read! ( side note, if you haven't read the Twilight series, by Stephanie Meyer get them today! I am holding my breath until August 2nd when the final one comes out!!! ) The kids watched there Saturday shows, so cute, Sophi saw a Care Bear show on, and went crazy! We never get to have it on that early since we are usually cleaning and she was in Heaven. I was so proud of the boys who loved watching her watch it so much, they didn't even try to fight it!

Later we took the kids to a new place in town, that is a big inflatable gym, it was so much fun. Kjari was hillarious, she is not scared of anything! She just followed the boys around the whole time and no fear jumped right in!

Since we missed Friday Family Movie night, we went and go some movies, came home and made homemade Pizza and started movies at about 6:00. We watched "The Game Plan" with the kids, it was really cute, and then we put them off to bed, and we watched a really wierd movie, I guess it was sort of funny, but one of those, I won't get those two hours back, type movies, called 'I am Fish Read', anyway then we watched one more, I can't remember the name though! Anway, it was fun. Sunday, we have church early now, so the kids and Joe were home by noon, and I stayed for Choir practice, and then came home to the kids playing and Joe ran off for a nap. He had started dinner, so I finished getting things ready and set up the table for our company. Our friends and there kids came over. It was a nice quiet Sunday.

I better get going, Lightning and Sophi are looking for me! :)

Sophie's hair!

Ok, does anyone remember when I wanted all boys!??!! Well, I certainly didn't know what I was missing! I am a crazy lady! Lucky for me, Sophie loves to let me do here hair, I know I am sure that will change someday, but on Sunday she actually sat and let me curl it! Oh my gosh, too cute. Of course by the time she was in Nursury for about 10 minutes, it was all flat again, poor girl has my hair!! Oh well!

The kids!

I know my camera is awful, it was dropped! It will be fixed soon, but hey they are so cute, it doesn't seem to matter! I am grateful for such a wonderful group of healthy happy kids!

Winter days in Montana!

This was our back yard last week, we have a few more inches even now. Today I had to pick the boys each up from school, it was simply too cold to walk. Our thermometer reads -5, the report says it is -12, with a wind chill factor of -25!! The wierd thing is it looks as bright at it does in these pictures! I can't seem to get use to this cold!!!! I am grateful for the brightness though! I love that! I don't miss the greyness in Portland at all!

Our little shooter!

Sometimes he simply amazes me! I am so sad that next year he will be going to kindergarden. He is so full of crazy energy, he makes me laugh and cry all in one day!! He is so good with our little girl and can't get enough of his big brothers! We all love him so much!

Cute pics

Just a few cute pics from sometime in November.
My camera dropped sometime this summer and I need to get the lense fixed. So, not perfect pics but better than nothing, right?

Sophie is a riot!

Ok, the boys and I were busy Saturday getting our normal jobs done, and somehow, poor little Sophie's nap got fortotten, and we found her here, sitting at the bottom of the step! Crashed! She is too cute!

Names have been changed to protect their identity.....

Ok, some of you may have noticed some changes to our site! Most important, we have changed all of our names! Its for privacy, but I will now introduce us all to you!:

Lynn, 32 I am a stay at home mom who likes to read, talk, play with my kids, and continually work on organizing. My mission, to have happy, healthy, kids, full of integrity, who will grow up to be incredible amazing people, and to have a healthy, happy husband who I will spend all of Eternity in Love with.

Joe, 32 An incredibly hard working man, who loves his children and his wife, not to mention he is really hot! hee hee!

Rodee, our 9 year old boy, who loves to read, and play basketball. He is an amazing kid and keeps us on our toes all the time.

Sam, is our 8 year old boy, he is a tender hearted sweetheart. He likes to play soccer and is such a great help around the house.

Lightning, our 5 year old son, is so busy! He is a happy, kid, sooo ready to go to Kindergarten. He loves everything super hero!

Sophie is our 18 month sweetheart. She loves to smile and laugh at her big brothers. Just them walking in the room lights her up!! We love having a girl around!

Ok, so that is us! Love, Lynn :)

It has been a while!

Ok, I have been newly inspired to write. Joe has been gone for most of January and missed our 11 year anniversary yesterday! Its ok, we will celebrate when he gets home, but I do miss him! The kids are going nuts today! We have a ton of snow on the ground, but I can't seem to encourage them to go out and play. The snow here is wierd, it is really rare when we get to a temp that allows the snow to be packing snow. So they can't really make snowmen, or have snow ball fights. Well, they managed to have a good snow "fight" yesterday but no balls. They just scooped snow and let it fly, a good part of the nieghborhood was involved, and all in our front yard. As usual it was boys againts, the one poor house full of girls next door.
Oh to be a kid again! I remember actually enjoying snowball fights, now it does nothing but annoy me if someone even thinks about throwing something at me. I need to lighten up or something! I am not good at that.
We are finishing up Saturday chores, so we can do something fun tonight. The kids were going to each invite a friend if they got it done by 2, but weren't able to do that. I think I am punishing me more then them. I will have to remember that one.
I will try to write again soon! And get my camera lense fixed so I can post some more pics!
